The sole additional organisation of the Gent Jazz Festival, a production in collaboration with Duvel Moortgat and Jazzlab Series, is the 10th edition of the Young Jazz Talent in Ghent music competition. From July 8th to July 18th, each day one selected band will perform in the festival café at the Bijloke site.

The Gent Jazz Festival organises this competition to offer starting musicians the opportunity to get themselves noticed. The winner will be chosen by a jury of professional jazz connoisseurs: Mik Torfs (JazzLab Series), Bruno Bollaert (Gent Blogt) Giovanni Barcella (jazz drummer) and Frederik Goossens (Klara) and Simon Korteweg. The winner will get to play a concert at the 2011 Gent Jazz Festival, a concert at Dinant Jazz Nights and Jazz Maastricht, the closing concert of Young Jazz Talent Ghent 2011 and a ‘JazzLab Series’ late 2010.
