 - 20.07Gent Jazz Festival looks back at strong edition
The two festival weekends attracted around 35 000 visitors to the Gent Jazz Festival. The concert of the Chick Corea Freedom Band and their jam session at the end of the concert was definitely one of the highlights of this 2010 edition.
Other remarkable concerts were the concert of the Belgian saxophone player Pierre Vaiana, the Stanley Clarke Band with a remarkable role for the Japanese pianist Hiromi, guitar virtuoso Pat Metheny and the Portugese fado singer and favourite of the public Mariza who played for the third time at the festival.
The public went out of their mind at the concert of Kruder & Dorfmeister and during the concert of Madness. The special closing project by Trixie Whitley and her guest musicians (with Marc Ribot among others) was a remarkable closing concert.
At the last day of the festival the winner of the Young Jazz Talent competition was announced. The jury chose for the Nathan Daems Quintet.
The dates for the 2011 edition of the Gent Jazz Festival are: July 7-17, 2011.
